The Wandering Roots is a group of professional musicians dedicated to providing the best musical experience for you and your clients. They perform mostly jazz in various styles, and add a distinctive sprinkling of Afro flavor to create a unique listening experience. Megan Ndale
Megan sings and plays the cello (among other instruments). She is originally from America, but has lived in Tanzania since 2006. She has a Master's Degree in Global Music, and utilizes her performance, compositional and pedagogical skills to be a force of positivity. Abasi Mkomwa
Abasi keeps the band groovin' with his bass playing. He is a distinguished musician both in traditional Tanzanian music and in Popular and Western styles. He is an amazing percussionist, dancer, and guitarist in addition to his bass playing. Esther Kamala
Esther is the backbone of the band, playing the drum set. She studied music at Makumira University and is also a talented musician and singer in other areas like Gospel and Fusion. Esther is one of the pioneers of strong women musicians and performers in Tanzania! |
Randy Stubbs
Randy is the master of the keys. He is an experienced church musician, pianist, organist, teacher, and technician. His secret identity is an excellent jazz pianist! He is the manager of the Cultural Arts Center just outside of Arusha, and he is also the father of Megan and Marissa, Marissa Stubbs
Marissa is the harpist of the band, and is also Megan's sister! She is a multi-talented musician: playing harp, piano, violin, drums, recorder, and anything else she can get her hands on. She can be found most days practicing her many instruments and dancing. |
